Babymoon in Coeur d’Alene

A babymoon is a trip a couple take before their baby is born, the last little hurrah just the two of them. The idea reminds me of a honeymoon, a trip of romance and quality time.

For our babymoon, we stayed close to home. Being full-term means that the baby can truly arrive any time - so going off on an adventure to Italy wasn’t really an option at this point. ;)

A cozy local hotel, with large comfy beds and hot breakfast fit the bill of “staycation” quite well. The air quality went downhill quickly from Thursday-Sunday, meaning that our hopes of spending more time outside were dashed. Monday morning, the air quality was back in the healthy range, so after a hot breakfast and a massive pumpkin spice latte, we hiked a local favorite trail called Tubbs Hill. The weather was blissfully chilly, shy of 60 degrees and windy. These days, I can’t be exercising when the temp is above 70 degrees. It’s very easy to get overheated in pregnancy, and earlier in August I ended up in the ER due to the heat and a migraine. That’s not an experience I ever wish to repeat.

All in all, Daniel and I spent September 1-6 with a staycation babymoon - and had a lovely time. I look forward to holding our baby very, very soon. <3
