Easy Gelatinous Bone Broth

Easy Gelatinous Bone Broth

I love good bone broth, but who doesn’t? Some of my favorite go-to comfort meals require a lovely bone broth base, and my pup loves to eat whatever leftovers there are (I strain the broth and carefully remove all bones before giving her what is left) - usually some skin, softened cartilage, etc.

A high-protein broth, this bone broth requires very little, yet produces a hearty broth.

I couldn’t find a photo of my bone broth, so here’s a cozy photo of my husband and I. Photography by Kellie Arndt Photography.

Tools:

An Instant Pot

Water

Whole chicken (bones & cartilage only)

Recipe:

Place the chicken bones in the Instant Pot, and cover with water up to the ‘max fill’ line.

Set on Low Pressure timed for three hours.

Once the cooking time has expired, depressurize manually.

Let cool and store in the fridge for up to a week, or in the freezer for up to a month.

Do resist the urge to overcook your bone broth - you risk burning the broth and being left with an unsatisfying broth if cooked for too long at too high a temperature.
