Tips on writing a meaningful card

Tips on writing a meaningful card

Hi friends!

Currently, I’m preparing for Valentine’s Day (the 6th one I’ll be celebrating with my now-husband, Daniel). It’s a beautiful sight, but a lot of hard work. And one of the most cherished parts of our day is exchanging gifts and cards.

Here are some of my best tips for writing a card that your lover will cherish for years to come:

  1. Start with a heart of thankfulness for what they mean to you + all the wonderful ways they make your life beautiful and special.

  2. Write down specific praise for them. “Darling, when you go grocery shopping for me, I feel so thankful for your kindness. You demonstrate care for me with your thoughtfulness in shopping, and I feel like the luckiest lady in the world.”

  3. Tell them all those little “but they know that!” things - “You make my life better.” “I am so proud to be yours.” “Making you happy is my delight.” “You are the world to me.” “I am so happy I married you.”

  4. Sign off the card with a heartfelt phrase appropriate to your thankfulness and love. “Your adoring wife, Amy” “Your faithful servant, Daniel” (yes, that’s how we sign our cards) 🥰

You can use these tips for writing cards to others as well, tweaking the wording but keeping the same structure of praise, thankfulness, specificity, and heartfelt phrases.

If this was helpful to you, would you share with your friends and families? Let’s spread the love. 💓
